Microchips save lives! Microchips not only identify your pet, but they also create an online profile for your pet. Pet profiles should include a good description of your pet including breed & sex, pictures of your pet, pictures of you with your pet, and emergency contact information. Don't forget to keep your online profile up to date!
Place posters with a picture of your pet, site last seen and contact information to alert your neighborhood. Create flyers & distribute them wherever possible, including local grocery stores and shopping center. Consider offering a reward. Click on the button below to view & create online "Lost Dog Flyer Posters".
Call and file a report of your lost pet with all pet shelters within a 60 mile radius of your home. Pets often get scared in unfamiliar territory and can wonder a great distance. Lost pets can also be picked up by passers by attempting to help the pet and can be driven several miles away. Notify your veterinarian to also be on the lookout.
Don't forget to post your lost pet flyer on your social media account. Your post will reach many in a short period of time.
Search for websites that are available to help you find your pet. There are several sites available. Petco Love offers a lost and found site that partners with over 2,500 shelters nationwide. They have also recently partnered with Ring.com (see below). Click the button below to view this site.
Ring.com, the popular manufacturer of home security and smart home devices, has launched a new program to locate lost pets in their Ring App. The company has added features into their popular "Neighbors" feed for posting information about a lost pet, the "Lost Pet Post". The company has also partnered with "Petco Love Lost" giving access to a network of over 2,500 animal shelters nationwide to help locate missing pets. Lastly, the company is introducing their new "Pet Tag" which easily attaches to your pet's collar. The tag contains a QR code which once scanned will access a pet profile that the pet owners' set up giving immediate care information to whomever finds the pet. Scanning the code also alerts the pet owner that the code has been scanned and the pet potentially found. For additional information on this new program please click on the button below.
